International Dark Sky Week, April 22-30

Get Ready!

IDSW 2022 is coming right up, April 22-30!  We are so excited and hope you are too! There are a plethora of ways you can be involved and support this exciting week of discovering the night.

First, check out the IDSW outreach kit! It's filled with graphics, sample social media posts, newsletter blurbs, and more. We've also created a simple press kit that can help you get the word out to local media.

Second, can you plan to hold an event during IDSW? We have created a list of potential partners, as well as event ideas to get you started! And once you plan your event, please post it tot the IDSW website here

Third, will your community adopt an IDSW proclamation? Watch the presentation about it here, and check out the sample proclamation here

And finally, everyone loves videos right? Help us make some for IDSW! There are a few ways you can be involved. Send in a recording of yourself saying this script, and we'll put it together into an inspiring video with your faces from around the world! You can record the video in English or in your native language. (Please record horizontally and send the video file to bettymaya@darksky.org).

And, if you are a creative, please help us make some short videos to share during IDSW! Post them to your own social accounts and send them to us as well. Some topic ideas are:

·         Why is it so important to protect the night?

·         3 ways to reduce light pollution in your community

·         3 steps you can take at home to reduce light pollution

·         3 ways you are celebrating IDSW

·         How to do globe at night

·         What is glare?

Please reach out to me with any questions. Thank you all SO MUCH for your passion to protect the night! We look forward to celebrating IDSW with you this year!
